Pretty Tall Style - DIY Trumpet Skirt in Hot Pink

Hi guys, today is one of those days where I am super excited to share with you all.  It’s because of my diy trumpet skirt.  I was inspired to make this trumpet skirt from one that I saw online at ASOS a couple of months ago.  A few of my favorite bloggers had worn it, and I thought it was just so cute.  It was quickly sold out on ASOS.  So what’s a tall fashion blogger to do.  Take matters into her own hands and make one herself, and that is exactly what I did.  What makes it even better is that I already had the perfect pattern, lining, zipper and the fabric in my stash. So I was good to go.  Surprisingly this diy skirt was pretty easy to sew up.  I followed the pattern directions with one exception. I omitted the waist band.  I just wasn’t liking the way it was sitting when I tried it on.  It seemed unnecessary. I like the much cleaner line I have without it.    I decided to pair my uber feminine trumpet skirt with my black (faux) leather jacket and lace up sandals to give it  a touch of edge.  I think this is one of my favorite outfits so far.  I love each piece separately and they all bring something to this outfit without making it over the top.  This mommy’s style and sewing skills are slowly progressing and I have to say, I quite happy with that. 🙂

Pattern Review:

Pattern Description: Misses Skirts

Pattern Sizing: 6-12

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I made view A. Yes it did minus the waist band which I purposely omitted.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were very easy. I read them first because I am a beginner, but didn’t really find them necessary. Very simple and easy to make skirt.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved how easy it was to make.

Fabric Used: Hot pink polyester woven with a bit of stretch.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: added 3″ length

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would definitely sew this pattern again and plan on doing so soon. I would highly recommend this pattern to there.

Conclusion: Loved how my skirt turned out and very thankful for this cute and easy pattern.

Thank you for reading!

Hugs,
