I am really happy to have my sewing mojo back. I was organizing and re-assessing and getting rid of more things. It allowed me to see even more clearly what my style is or at least where I want it to be and what I am really in need of. I noticed that I was lacking in casual, everyday, easy to wear skirts. So I decided to make a few. I made a light weight denim one, that turned out to be a tad bit too short for me, so that one unfortunately went into my donate pile. But this red one the fit and length are perfect for me and I am really pleased with how it turned out.
I decided today to pair it with boots and a blazer for these cooler weather temps we are having here in San Diego, but I look forward to pairing it with a tank, denim jacket and sandals as well as a cardigan and flats this spring and summer. I’m also thinking it can pair nicely with a cute intarsia print sweater or sweatshirt and some sneakers. You know I’ll have to do a red skirt re-mix, showing the different ways it can be styled.
I love the New Look pattern 6419 that I used to create this red cotton twill skirt. It was super easy and quick to make and the directions were very easy to follow. I made some minor modifications with the waist band/elastic and modified the length for my height. I would definitely recommend this pattern if you’re looking for a cute and easy make. Yes I do plan on using this pattern again as I want a few more of these skirts in black, bright pink, navy and green, also thinking I may need a tan one as well. All in this cotton twill fabric.
Thank you for stopping by!
Hugs,
