Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and DIY Blog - Spring Floral Maxi Dress with Bright Pink Cardigan

Hello friends I hope you all had a blessed Easter weekend! Today’s post is about the spring floral maxi dress paired with a cardigan. This spring floral maxi dress I’m wearing today is old from Tall Girls UK but is still one of my all-time favorite maxi dresses.  I love the length as it sweeps the floor on my 6’4″ frame and I love the empire waist style as it narrows in at the smallest part of my frame and relaxes from the belly downward.  The cherry blossom print just screams spring has arrived!  Today I decided to pair it with a bright pink 3/4 sleeve cardigan and some simple bright pink flat sandals that I picked up on clearance from Ross Dress For Less. As they pick up the hints of bright pink in the print of my maxi dress. As you all know we are all about re-mixing and getting the most out of our clothing over here so I wanted to show that if you have a maxi dress that is a favorite throwing a cardigan on with it, is another way to change it up and depending on the color of the maxi dress or the colors in the print it gives you that many more ways of changing it up. Also think about denim jackets, blazers and moto jackets as well.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and DIY Blog - Spring Floral Maxi Dress with Bright Pink Cardigan

Happy Easter lovelies! I love a good dress and blazer combination.  Especially when the dress has a bold print such as this one I scored on clearance from H&M several months ago.  It’s perfect for church or work.  My black J. Crew School Boy blazer is a closet staple and workhorse.  When I need to look pulled together and don’t really feel like putting any though into it I know that I can always count on this black blazer.  If you don’t already have one n your closet, I would definitely advise on investing in one. Whether it be jeans, pants, skirts, dresses, shorts, throw a black blazer blazer on with it and you are instantly polished and put together.  If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen where I scored two pair of Nine West black suede pumps on clearance for $10 each.  Well today I am wearing one of those pairs and I have to tell you this shoe is super comfortable and I love the cut out detail.  Thinking these shoes will look super cute with slacks as well.  If you have a Nordstrom Rack near you I would advise to stop in and see if they have any of these great mark downs still available in store as I didn’t see this kind of deal online.  Have a blessed Sunday!

Pretty Tall Style - Personal Style Blog of a Tall Girl - DIY Chambray Tie Sleeve Off the Shoulder Midi Dress - McCall's 7543 Pattern Review

It has been ages since I’ve made anything and needed an easy and fast project to complete to hopefully help me to get my sewing mojo back.  This DIY chambray tie sleeve off the shoulder midi dress was just what the doctor ordered.   I am obsessed with off-the-shoulder tops and dresses and want them in every single color.  But I saw a chambray midi length dress by Tibi and instantly fell in love with the look of the dress, but definitely not the $495 price tag. You can take a look at the $495 Tibi version here.  Totally out of my budget.  So I looked through my fabric stash and found that I had some chambray fabric in the same color and McCall’s 7543 was a great pattern to use to create something similar.  I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.  You can read my pattern review below.Pretty Tall Style - Personal Style Blog of a Tall Girl - DIY Chambray Tie Sleeve Off the Shoulder Midi Dress - McCall's 7543 Pattern Review

:: Pattern Review – McCall’s 7543 ::

Pattern Description: Misses Off-the-Shoulder Tops, Tunic, Dress

Pattern Sizing: L-XL-XXL, I cut the large.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes with the extended dress length.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were very easy to read and follow along

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like how simple and straight forward it was.

Fabric Used: Chambray purchased from my local Yardage Town store.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I omitted the pockets because I didn’t have enough fabric and also I extended the length of the dress to midi length.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I will definitely be sewing this dress again. I would love to make a couple more with pockets and varying lengths. I would definitely recommend for others to try.

Conclusion: Love this pattern! A very quick and easy project.

Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion - Style Tips and DIY Blog - Navy and White Stripe Tee and White Flare Leg Jeans

A navy and white striped tee is a closet must have and the base for today’s simple, casual and classic with a little bit of fun look. No simpler and more casual look than that of jeans and a tee.   But when you add in stripes its an instant classic look.  But to add some visual interest with the stripes I added a pop of color with my green tassel earrings.  They are fun, if you’re more on the traditional side, simple studs or small gold hoops would suffice as well. I kept my bag and shoes neutral with their cognac suede texture.   One of the great things about a navy and white stripe tee is that they are so versatile.  They pair well with jeans, pants, skirts, shorts and a multitude of colors such as red, green, yellow, orange, bright pink and even purple.  And we didn’t even touch on the print mixing options such as florals, camo and leopard print.  There are so many ways that you can remix your look by switching up your accessories as well. Think about scarves and statement necklaces, even belts for a pop of color.  It’s all about great basic pieces that can be re-mixed for many different looks! A striped tee is definitely one of those pieces.
