What I’m Wearing:

Skirt: DIY using New Look 6053 pattern, similar Fabric | Sweater: Old Navy (old), similar, tall

Vest: Vintage | Boots: Ebay | Bag: Kate Spade | Watch: Micheal Kors

Funny story about my Ebay boots.  I was looking for a pair of black leather over the knee boots in my size 12. I wanted a pair with a not too high heel and a flat pair.  When I did a google search the options that came up were either way too expensive or just didn’t quite fit the bill with too other details going on.  I just wanted plain, simple and clean. I decided to look on Ebay and as I was scrolling a picture of these popped up.  They were new without tags and they were only $25 with like $8 shipping.  I was prepared not to have high expectations because of the price, but when they arrived they were brand new and cute. But sadly, they did not reach over my knee.  They stop right at my knees. Serious tall girl problem…lol. I decided to keep them anyway because I love the heel height and the almond shape of the toe bed.  Plus they are super comfortable.  Even though they do not come over my knees, I love that they at reach hit them, which my four other pair of real leather $100 plus knee high boots do not.  I can wear these boots with leggings, skinny jeans and other skirts/dresses.  So I will definitely get my $33 dollars worth.  Now let’s just see how they hold up because sometimes you do get what you pair for, but sometimes you are pleasantly surprised as well.

My leopard print pencil skirt I made using New Look pattern 6053.  I love how this pattern is such a quick and easy sew.  I decided to make this skirt midi length and love it.  This fabric I ordered online from Joann’s last year sometime, during a sale and just decided to use it a few days ago.  It’s a microsuede and has a really soft texture.  I like the feel.

At first I had this pencil skirt paired with only my black sweater and although the outfit was cute on it’s own it seemed like it was missing something, so I layered on my faux fur vest and voila it was stylish.  I feel as I say,”grown woman sexy”, chic and glam.  I think this outfit qualifies as another successful step on my style journey.  Now if we could just move somewhere with at least a low temperature of 60 degrees, so that I can wear this and not pass, out I will be a happy camper…hehe ;)

Although my skirt will not be wasted here on the island, I have plans on wearing it with a simple tee and sandals, tank and jean jacket, as well as a chambray and white button up, with pumps.  Stay tuned for those looks on the blog in the future.

What I’m Wearing:

Jeans: Old Navy | Jacket: Gap, on sale now | Sweater: Old Navy, similar, similar | Bag: Target | Shoes: Nine West

Again with the bright colors for winter! I spotted this hot pink moto jacket on the Gap website months ago and had to have it.  I just loved the bright color and I’m already obsessed with the shape of moto jackets.  So when Gap was having one of its awesome sales, with a 40% off discount code, I swooped in.  The sleeves are a great length, and it doesn’t feel restrictive at all.  It’s a light weight wool blend and layers perfectly over a sweater as you can see here.  I’m wearing the medium tall.  As I checked to add the link to this post, it looked like the large was the only size left in tall and it is currently on sale.

How cute is this  fox sweater?  This was another purchase from months ago, unfortunately it is sold out now, but they have some other cute options available in tall sizes that I linked above.  You can’t see in the pictures here, but the sleeves on this sweater are really long, past my wrists, and I love the fit.  I’m wearing a large tall, As you see I’m wearing it tucked in because it isn’t bulky at all.  I plan on wearing it next with a gingham button down underneath and pairing it later perhaps with a pencil skirt. Part of my wardrobe maximizing, so stay tuned.

I decided to wear my super comfortable Nine West leopard pumps, because like Jenna Lyons says, “leopard is a neutral.” T he print happens to be another one of my current obsessions.  My boyfriend jeans are real “boyfriend” jeans.  I’ve been having a hard time finding boyfriend jeans that I like that are long enough in women’s, so I went over to the mens section of Old Navy and found these that I love.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

What I’m Wearing:

Skirt – Ross | Sweater – Old Navy, tall | Jacket – Topshop, similar, tall | Bag – Target

Shoes – Avenue, similar, up to size 12 | Necklace – Charlotte Russe, similar

So I’ve had this skirt in my closet now for over a year without wearing it.  It was one of my impulse buys from Ross.  I loved the color and the fact that it was  on clearance for $9.  I had no clue what I would be wearing it with but figured I’d get it anyways because it was only $9 and I LOVED the color.  You know me and color…lol When I tried it on at home I just couldn’t figure any outfit combination that I liked, so this skirt just sat in a vacuum saver bag under my bed as a $9 failure.  Then perusing Pinterest I found inspiration in this pin. I had all the pieces already in my closet and would have never thought to put them together.  I love this color combo.   It’s very bright, but the black seems to tone it down.  This midi-length may not be a favorite of everyone, but I think it works for me because I am so tall, the length doesn’t make me look dowdy or too short-legged.  My chartreuse sweater is lively and very complementary to the purple. The black (faux) leather moto jacket adds the edge and seems to make everything look better.  As of late,  you can see it has become a go to favorite of mine.  A black leather moto jacket whether faux or real should be a closet staple for every woman.

One of my new goals is to maximize my wardrobe and shop my closet more.  I’m challenging myself to be able to make at least four different looks from a particular clothing item. I’d say this look is a keeper, now three more to go for this skirt.  I have two in mind already to include a chambray or denim button up and the other a denim jacket with perhaps a navy/white stripe tee.  Stay tuned to see these looks in upcoming posts.
