So a few years ago I made this dress in a green stretch knit. I loved that dress and had to say goodbye to it when it was messed up during a trip to the emergency room where I was admitted and had to have surgery.  Well as I stated I really loved that dress, but I have to admit that I love this version even more because I actually had enough fabric to make the pockets and you know this tall girl loves a dress with pockets!  This version is made of a cotton stretch ribbed knit fabric in this vivacious orange color.  I love wearing bold and bright colors during the summer time and my mission this summer is to make a multitude of different types of maxi dresses in a bevy of colors and so far, so good!.  I decided to pair this orange dress with these turquoise statement earrings I found at Burlington Coat Factory.  I am just as obsessed with colorful statement making earrings as I am with maxi dresses right about now.  This has to be one of the most comfortable and easiest outfits to just throw on and go, yet I still look pulled together.  Perfect for brunch, running errands or simply lounging around.  This dress has me covered and I will be making several more of these.

Simple, cute and comfortable, these three words are right up my alley when it comes to getting dressed in the summertime.  When the temps start heating up and the bus have been driving me crazy from being out of school I need outfits that can be quickly thrown together but still have me looking put together and a maxi dress and denim jacket is the answer most of the time for me.  Especially since I’ve gotten my sewing mojo back and have been making these in various colors…lol  They are so easy to just throw on and go, love a look that doesn’t take much effort.  This one was super easy.  I’ve linked some grey maxi dresses above and I hope you all already have a denim jacket in your closet because it is a wardrobe staple, but just in case you don’t I’ve got you covered there as well.  Keep in mind this works with any color maxi dress as my accessories are all neutrals.  My maxi dress is straight down and as I’ve picked up some weight I prefer them to be fitted on my frame but not tight, so I throw on a wide belt to accentuate my waist and give me some shape. The denim jacket it the perfect layering piece, I decided to top it all off with my olive green statement earrings and pretty “P” initial necklace from Ainkas Jewels.  You know I love me some personalization and the P can represent pretty or my last name, depending on my mood..lol I switch intermittently between this letter P and the T, love these dainty initial necklaces.

Hello lovelies! Sorry for the intermittent posts the last week, my boys have been out of school for summer break for one week now, and I’ve had to do so re-adjustments and have now gotten my rhythm back.  I am happy to be back to our regular scheduled posting..lol  I’m also happy because I am wearing my happy color with this diy yellow maxi dress I made using Kwik Sew K4169 and the sunshine yellow ponte stretch knit fabric.  I’ve always been a huge fan of this shade of yellow and I am so excited to see that yellow is a big trend right now, so it’s fairly easy to find a piece you love in this color, but for us tall girls finding a maxi dress that is long enough, well not that easy, So I took matters into my own hand and created my own.  But don’t you fret I’ve linked some tall dresses that I’ve found available in yellow for those of you who don’t sew. I’ve paired my did yellow maxi dress with my denim jacket and again statement earrings.  I love how there are so many great earrings available right now.  They really do make a an outfit pop, although with this bright yellow hue, it does that on its own. I’ve finished the look off with the summer “it” bag, I really love this bag it also makes a statement on it’s own. Hello Lovelies! So I have recently been on the hunt for some cute graphic tees.  I was doing some grocery shopping in Wal-Mart and decided to take a look in the men’s dept. I knew what I had in mind.  I didn’t want cartoon characters or long phrases.  I wanted simple, clean wording and cute.  Well I came across this “whatever.” tee and knew immediately that it was what I was looking for and needed.  Simple wording, cute and classic navy and white colors and a crew neck to boot.  What made it even more amazing is the it was only $5!! Well $4.97 to be exact.  Although this was the only graphic tee that I found to my liking that day, I’ve made a mental note to remember to check the men’s tee section now whenever I’m there for cute tee’s like this because let me tell you, the styling options are bananas as you shall soon see.  I have so many ideas already in the works for this $5 gem, but today I decided to dress it up with a diy wrap skirt I made a couple of years ago and these cute Christian Siriano denim pumps I picked up on sale from Payless.  I have been looking for denim pumps in my size that I love for several years now and just happened across these pretties on the site.  You know they were quickly added to the basket. My new Michael Kors quilted denim bag (which I scored for half off plus and additional 20% off) pairs so nicely with it.  Call me old fashioned, but I love when my handbag matches my shoes.  I don’t have to do it all of the time, but some pairings, I truly love and this is definitely one of them.Pretty Tall Style - A Tall Girl's Fashion and DIY Blog - Whatever.
