What I’m Wearing:

Bottom: Old Navy | Top : Tall Couture (c/o) | Shoes : Payless | Bag : Kate Spade

Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a terrific Tuesday.  In today’s outfit post I am wearing the 382 Long Sleeve Blouse in Delilah I received courtesy of Tall Couture.  I must tell you it was love at first sight.  If you’ve been following me for a while then you know that blue is my favorite color.  So when I laid my eyes on all of the beautiful shades of blue in this blouse along with the peacock feather print, I was smitten.  It’s simply pretty! Next let’s talk about fit.  Do you see how long the sleeves are?!!  Remember people, I am a very tall girl and I have long arms, the sleeves on this blouse are more than adequate.  They are absolutely perfect.  I love when I can bend my arms and not feel confined or restricted in any manner and this blouse just moves with me.  Now as we move on to the feel and texture of this blouse.  It feels amazing on.  It’s semi sheer, light and breezy.  This type of blouse is also very versatile.  As I have it styled here with jeans, it can be worn for a casual chic look, for running errands and picking up the kids from school.  I can see it paired with navy trousers for a work appropriate look or even a pencil skirt for happy hour with the girls.

P.S. Did I mention this blouse is on clearance right now and can be found here, limited sizes available.

 What I’m Wearing:

Bottom: Old Navy, Similar here | Top: Old Navy | Shoes : c/o Shoesissima | Belt: Kate Spade via T.J. Maxx | Bag: Louis Vuitton

Nothing is more classic in the summer to me than a pair of crisp white jeans and a button down.  Throw in a perfect  pair of penny loafers in a creamy peanut butter shade, and why not invite Kate Spade and Louis V. to the party while you’re at it and bingo, you have what I’d like to call ‘classic prep’.  The only thing missing is my monogram on my button down. I think I need to put a sewing machine that does monogramming on my birthday wish list.  Hint..hint hubby. ;)

Also I wanted to let you all know that  I was introduced to Shoessima.com a few months ago.  There tagline states ‘beautiful shoes for larger feet’! They carry women’s U.S. shoe sizes 10-14, U.K. 8-12. The Penny Loafers I am wearing are beautifully made and fit perfectly.  They have a sale going on right now on their summer sandals; and have some really cute shoes coming soon for the fall/winter.

Hi lovelies! I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend so far. Today’s blog post has a couple of DIY’s  going on.  As you can see I have a new hair style.  I decided to give Havana Marley Twists a try.  I’ll have an upcoming post with more information about this do’ for those of you interested, sometime in the upcoming week.  The second DIY is my black peplum top.  I used New Look 6130 and here is my review.

Pattern Description:
Sleeveless peplum top.

Pattern Sizing:
8-18, I cut a size 14. Since I’m a beginner sewer I’m not sure if the pattern runs big or if it was my error in not using the correct seam allowances,
because the top ended up coming out one size to big I think.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

I used the bodice from view C and the peplum from view B. So looking at these two I would say yes.

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Yes the instructions were very easy to follow.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

I disliked the armhole facing and the method for attaching it. I’m wishing it was curved instead of straight because I had a hard time getting it aligned with the armhole opening. But I will chalk it up to being a beginner.

Fabric Used:
Black polyester crepe purchased from my local Fabric Mart.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

I added 2″ to the bodice.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

I will definitely be sewing this pattern again. I will trying making it with sleeve and also with the asymmetrical peplum. I would recommend it to others.

Conclusion:
Not my favorite peplum pattern so far because of the problems I had with the armholes and sizing, but it is still a good one.  I will attempt to take this top in some, before wearing it again.  Hopefully it turns out okay.

Thank you for reading, have a blessed Sunday!
