Hello lovelies, so sorry for the recent lapse in posts. It’s summer and I have one kid In ESY (extended school year) the other kid home and I’ve been juggling trying to stay sane..lol I finally had some spare time and got my hair together in no fuss braids, so hopefully I can get back on track, since I can’t use the excuse that I don’t feel like doing my hair. It actually took me three days to finish these braids because I braided my hair all up and didn’t like the original color of the braid hair that I chose as I tried to blend two different colors myself and did not like the end result. I saw this braid hair that was a pre-blended mix of just what I was looking for. So one by one I took out the other braids and re-braided with the new color and now I am a happy camper. Although my fingers and my scalp hate me right about now. I already miss my bob, but I’m going to try and keep braids through the summer to give my own hair a break from the heat, as I had to flat iron and bump it almost daily. Okay so now on to this vertical striped off the shoulder dress courtesy of SheIn. I was drawn to the classic blue stripes of this dress, immediately. I also loved the length and fit of this dress on the model and thought that it would make a great casual, relaxed midi dress on my 6’4″ frame. For reference I am wearing this in an XL. I have to say that I was frustrated with this one. I love everything about this dress, but none of that matters if you can’t get it on and let me tell you this one was a struggle for me. The fabric does not stretch, I mean it does not budge and although this dress looks very roomy on, it was a struggle getting it on as the middle section or tier was too tight. I tried pulling this dress over my head and then I tried slipping it on from the bottom and it was not budging either way. But I was determined not to be defeated because I loved the style too much. What I ended up having to do to get this dress on, was cut the dress in half at the middle section tier. I ended up making it into a crop top and midi skirt and then added my wide belt make it look like a dress again, as my cropped top days are over and done with..lol. With that being said, for my ladies on the thinner/smaller frame side I can see this dress working great on you. But for those of you with a broader upper body and wider hips or a midsection unfortunately not so much, only because I don’t want you to have to struggle with getting it on as I have done. But I do plan on wearing the skirt I made from this dress a lot this summer and will be showing some looks with it shortly. This dress is only $21 for those of you still interested. I’m sad it didn’t work out as well as I’d hoped, but happy that I was still able to make it work and in the end will have a great and versatile spring/summer skirt added to my wardrobe. Just keeping it real! 🙂
Thank you for stopping by!
