Bold and bright plus stripes! You know this sweater had my name written all over it! Plus it was on major sale and fit right into my wardrobe. I also love that the multitude of colors in this sweater allow me to pair it with a multitude of bottoms, different colored skirts and pants alike.  Today I decided to pair it with my diy chambray skirt.  I made it using New Look 6419 and a lightweight denim I picked up from my local Yardage Town store. It really plays off the bold colors of the sweater. Picking up the bright pink stripe in the sweater by adding my bright pink pumps.  I really love this color and am hoping to find a pair of loafers or flats in this color as well as these pumps are not every day all day type of shoes at least for me.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and DIY Style Blog - Gap Metallic Crazy Stripe Sweater - Outfit Inspiration

DIY Red Twill Skirt - New Look 6419

I am really happy to have my sewing mojo back.  I was organizing and re-assessing and getting rid of more things.  It allowed me to see even more clearly what my style is or at least where I want it to be and what I am really in need of. I noticed that I was lacking in casual, everyday, easy to wear skirts.  So I decided to make a few.  I made a light weight denim one, that turned out to be a tad bit too short for me, so that one unfortunately went into my donate pile.  But this red one the fit and length are perfect for me and I am really pleased with how it turned out. DIY Red Twill Skirt - New Look 6419

I decided today to pair it with boots and a blazer for these cooler weather temps we are having here in San Diego, but I look forward to pairing it with a tank, denim jacket and sandals as well as a cardigan and flats this spring and summer.  I’m also thinking it can pair nicely with a cute intarsia print sweater or sweatshirt and some sneakers.  You know I’ll have to do a red skirt re-mix, showing the different ways it can be styled.DIY Red Twill Skirt - New Look 6419

I love the New Look pattern 6419 that I used to create this red cotton twill skirt.  It was super easy and quick to make and the directions were very easy to follow.  I made some minor modifications with the waist band/elastic and modified the length for my height.  I would definitely recommend this pattern if you’re looking for a cute and easy make.  Yes I do plan on using this pattern again as I want a few more of these skirts in black, bright pink, navy and green, also thinking I may need a tan one as well.  All in this cotton twill fabric.DIY Red Twill Skirt - New Look 6419

A casual athleisure look for running errands and finishing up the last of my Christmas shopping.  I’ve had this skirt and sweatshirt for couple of years now and thought about pairing them together until now.  It’s funny how when you do a closet edit and get rid of a lot of stuff how clearly you can see the gems that were hidden by the “junk”.  My burgundy sneakers were purchased online from Nordstrom Rack last year along with my baseball cap which was an Ebay find.  This gorgeous burgundy velvet bag was also an eBay find. I love the color and texture, it is absolutely gorgeous and I will be using it a lot this fall and winter.  Well probably all year long as it matches perfectly with my sneakers.Athleisure
