It’s February and spring has already arrived here in San Diego. It’s a a bit chilly in the morning and then by mid afternoon the temps are anywhere between the upper 60s to the low 80s. I’m still slowly purging my closet and organizing and came across this Denim pencil skirt from Long Tall Sally.  I think it’s a great transitional piece as we head into spring.  Also one thing about denim skirts the never seem to go out of style and are great for spring and summer.  These olive knit booties are still going strong and so comfortable.  I love to slip them on whenever I have the chance.  They go up to a size 13 but as I went to link them for the post I see the largest available now is up to a size 11 as the 12’s and 13’s have now sold out.  Unfortunately my top is sold out as well but I did manage to find some very similar ones linked above.Olive Knit Top + Olive Knit Ankle Booties

Olive and navy has always been a favorite combination of mine.  Normally I save this color combo for the fall but I think it works well for the transition into spring as well.  And I was inspired to create this look today by revisiting some of my old InStyle magazines and coming across the color crash course cards.  Gives you even more options of shopping your closet by trying different color pairings. Thinking about it these are two colors that I wear practically all year long separately.  So finding ways to combine them together in fresh ways from pieces in my closet are a goal. I’ve had these navy chinos for over a year now and this olive utility shirt is a recent purchase.  While looking through my closet I found that it was lacking in neutral shirts.  I have a lot of tees and tanks but felt I had gaps in button ups.  So when I found this on major sale and available in tall sizes I jumped on it and I am so glad that I did. I can wear this olive green top with white, black, tan, blush and even bright pink chinos that I own.  Plus it can double as a light weight jacket layered over a tee or tank which also gives it even more options.  I also have plans for pairing it under blazers as well.  Such a great buy for my closet and in case you’re in need of one as well it is linked up above.  Stay tuned for re-mixes.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and DIY Style Blog - Olive Button Up Shirt + Navy Chinos - Outfit Inspiration

I’m still working on my goal of filling my closet with wearable pieces made by me and so happy to add this red one shoulder ruffle flounce top.  I made it using New Look 6507 view D and a red crepe fabric I’ve had in my stash now for a couple of years.  This was a very fast and easy make and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.  It makes for a great date night or night on the town top that can be worn with pants, jeans, or a skirt.

So if you know me, you know that I am all about comfort and I love stripes, well today’s look definitely helps me to tick off both of those boxes.  While I was perusing the Gap site during one of their 40% off sales I came across this set.  When I saw that it was available in tall sizes I had to give it a try.  I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical that the pants would be long enough. Because for me with wide leg pants and trousers unless they are meant to be cropped I prefer for them to drag on the floor.  So when I received these and tried them on you know I did a happy dance.  As you can see they drag the floor and I am even wearing a boot with a little heel. for today’s look just to give you an idea of the length of these pants.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's fashion and DiY Style Blog - Grey Extra Wide Leg Side Stripe + Matching Top

For sizing reference I am wearing the top in a large tall and I ordered the pants in an extra large tall because I wanted them to be super roomy and get the extra length which I thought I would need.  I wore this look with sneakers to drop my kids off at school and received several compliments.  So tall ladies if you want to get in on the wide leg sweats trend without breaking the bank, this one is a winner.  Did I mention that it is also so super soft and comfortable.  Also the material isn’t too thick or heavy weight so it is perfect for the upcoming spring temperatures.  I loved this set so much that I also ordered it in the navy color available as well.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's fashion and DiY Style Blog - Grey Extra Wide Leg Side Stripe + Matching Top
