I’ve decided to start another new feature to the blog “Recent Tall Purchase” in addition to all the other new features such as closet essentials and tall fashion finds. I realized that by the time I wear certain things and post pictures on the blog limited sizes are left, they are no longer available or the sale is no longer happening. So I figured it would be more helpful to show them as I purchase them, in case it was something someone else might be looking for. I will then show you different ways it might be styled through my outfit posts later.
Here is my first recent tall purchase.
In preparation for spring I have been looking for a couple of lace pieces. Surprisingly I don’t own any. I was searching for a simple and casual lace top in ivory and in black that could be worn alone or layered under a blazer, jacket or cardigan. Since I am a stay at home mom with two young boys I didn’t want anything fancy or expensive that I would need to dry clean only. Luckily I found exactly what I was looking for a couple of days ago.
I found this Tall Ivory Lace Tee, here and used the coupon code SHIPEXTRA to receive free shipping on this purchase. This was my first time ordering from Dorothy Perkins which is a UK company. I will let you know how the process went in an outfit post/review once I receive this tee.
My next purchase was my Tall Scallop Frill Tee in black, which I found here. I used a promo code 6088512061247406 for 10% off . Shipping was already free. I prefer to shop with retailers who offer free or discounted shipping. Living here in Hawaii it can become quite costly when dealing with shipping rates.
I love the scallop hem detail and the frilly sleeves on this black lace tee, also the versatility, as I can see it paired with dark wash jeans, pencil skirts and trousers.
I was in the market for lace tee’s because as I’ve stated before I’m looking to build a re-mixable wardrobe and get more out of the clothes I already have in my closet. Lace tee’s are great items because on their own, they add visual interest and texture to an outfit. As I stated above both of these tee’s are versatile as I can see myself pairing them with jeans, skirts and pants as I will show in later outfit posts.

Hi! Just came across your site while researching the tall clothing and thank goodness I did! I have a curvy 5’11 frame and wear a size 16 jean and usually a large top in US sizes. Wanted to know how these shirts fit? Do they run on the small or large side? Just wanted to know if I should get a sz 12 or 14. I am loving so many shirts on the Dorothy Perkins site, including the one you linked to. But there are so many reviews out there of bad return experiences/receiving the wrong size…I’m spooked! Hope you had a good experience!
Hi Kacie! This was my first time ordering from Dorothy Perkins and I did receive the correct size and it arrived in a somewhat manner within a week. I’m guessing this is due to them being located in the UK and it having to be shipped to me here in Hawaii. Although I’m used to receiving items within 3 days max from sites such as J. Crew, Gap, Banana Republic etc. Also I was a bit disappointed that my top was completely see through lace with no built in cami or lining. For some reason from the pic online I thought it would be lined, so that was disappointing. I decided to keep it though because I already had a cami that goes perfectly underneath it. So I have no info on the return process. But I did read the mixed reviews as well and can understand your hesitation. If I do order from them again and have a good or bad experience I will surely document it on the blog. 🙂
