This diy yellow A line skirt was another project I completed last week. The silhouette is similar to the white skirt I wore yesterday. It was even easier to make than yesterday’s skirt because I did not add pockets. I used McCall’s 6567 for this skirt. I think I prefer this pattern over the other because it has a tad more flare at the bottom. I think I will be using this pattern for my more stiffer fabrics and the other one for more flawy, lighter weight fabrics. For this skirt I used a yellow linen/cotton blend fabric I’ve had in my stash for over a year. I bought it with the intentions of making a skirt for spring last year, but just never got around to it.
I decided to pair my yellow skirt with black and white. You may start noticing a trend because I am currently obsessed with the combination of black and white and I have always been drawn to stripes. I picked up this black J.Crew Schoolboy blazer early last month during one of J. Crew’s awesome sales. It was on sale plus they had an additional 40% off sale items. Although I already own a black blazer I wanted this as an addition to my closet because it is cut smaller than my Banana Republic blazer which fits more like a boyfriend style blazer.
My black and white stripe tee is by Max Studio and I picked it up from T.J. Maxx on clearance. I love the fit and quality. My necklace was another great Ebay find.
Again I’m wearing my Avenue black faux suede pumps. These are old and currently my black go to pumps because they are comfortable but I am currently on the look out for a real black suede pump with a mid size heel. My bag from Kate Spade was picked up a couple of years ago during an online sample sale. I love the quality of the leather.
What I’m Wearing:
