Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and Lifestyle Blog - Color Crash - Purple and PersimmonIf you’ve been following my blog for a while then you definitely know that I am not one to shy away from color.  I love wearing  color, it makes me happy and I’m always looking for new ways to wear different items that I already have in my closet.  So what better way than try pairing different color combinations. I really enjoy when InStyle Magazine has its color issue and I love their Color Crash Course. I thought it would be a fun to start trying different combinations and color pairings that I might not have dared and sharing them here on the blog to hopefully give you all inspiration to experiment and find new ways to wear clothing that you already own by pairing them with a color you might not have thought of your self before.  So my first pairing is the combination of purple and persimmon.  Now this color pairing is not for the faint of heart. It is bold, bright and fun, and I love it.  The purple dress I made myself with a double knit fabric from Fabric Mart and Simplicity 1185.  This is a very easy and fast pattern to sew.  I definitely plan on using it again to make a few more dresses in different colors and maxi versions as well. My persimmon (which is a a shade of red-orange) blazer is an old J. Crew favorite of mine. Since both of my major pieces, the blazer and dress, are vivid hues, I decided to balance them out with black shoes and bag.  So tell me what do you think of this bold color pairing?

Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and DIY Blog - DIY Hot Pink Top - McCall's 6960

I made this diy hot pink top using McCall’s 6960 and a polyester chiffon I’ve had in my stash for awhile.  I am really pleased with the way this top turned out.  It is easy and breezy perfect to wear on its own during the summer and great for layering in spring as I am doing today.  I actually plan on making a few more of these tops in several other bright colors as I love the length and loose flowing drape and this top was very easy and fast to make. The fabric I picked up from my local Fabric Mart and my next visit I will be on the look out for more bright chiffon. As you know, if you’ve been following me for a while is that I don’t shy away from color.  I really love bright, vivid and bold colors and I wish these picture truly captured the vivacity of my top, because it is really a super bright Neon Pink! Exclamation mark needed to further validate the point..lol  I decided to pair it with black and white.  I’ve had this black faux leather moto jacket from Topshop for a few years now and I still love it as much each time I wear it.  It is truly a classic and super comfortable. And I absolutely love the fit and length of the sleeves.  They are the perfect length and width.  Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and DIY Blog - DIY Hot Pink Top - McCall's 6960What I’m Wearing:

Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and DIY Blog - DIY Chartreuse Pencil Skirt - New Look 6053

Hello lovelies! Today I’m wearing a diy chartreuse pencil skirt I made using this bold and bright stretch linen blend fabric I picked up from my local Fabric Mart over a year ago.  I’ve been trying to do a lot more sewing and utilizing and utilize the fabric I already have before I go out and purchase more.  Its kind of like shopping your closet, but in this case it is shopping my fabric closet. I decided to go full on bright with todays look pairing my diy chartreuse pencil skirt with my hot pink pumps from Nordstrom Rack.  I tell you I have been having a lot of luck with them recently in finding cute shoes in my size. These are a size 13!  My white moto jacket is from the first TTYA x Long Tall Sally collection.  When I spotted this jacket I immediately knew I wanted it, but didn’t necessarily need it, so I stalked the website waiting for it to go on sale, once it did, I was still hesitant and waited, then I received an email notification about an additional percentage off sale items and free shipping.  The hesitation left and I swooped in and purchased. Glad I waited for the right price and didn’t miss out, because I now see that this jacket is sold out.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and DIY Blog - DIY Chartreuse Pencil Skirt - New Look 6053What I’m Wearing:
