Hello Lovelies, today on the blog I’m showing different levels of getting dressed, the return of my short and natural hair and a orange and blue color-block combination. When I’m getting dressed I always have the hardest time in choosing the right accessories, so I normally just skip them and chose not to wear any, although I have a dresser top of statement necklaces in an array of colors. So I decided to start with my base of jeans, a tank and a pop of color with my cobalt blue shoes and matching blazer. There are so many different color combinations that could be added to this base look for a myriad of outfits, which I will definitely be using and showing you here on the soon.  For today I decided to go with my High School colors of orange and blue.  I grabbed one of my newest acquisitions, my bright orange Fiore bag. It added just enough contradiction, for some visual interest, but something was still missing.  So I decided to add an orange necklace and at least for me it seemed to pull the whole look together and bring more attention up towards my face.

Now about my hair. Last month, the first week of July I had the hubby shave my head again to get rid of all of the remaining  relaxed ends from my pixie cut.  It was really, really low, I mean you could see scalp.  So I decided to rock my long and curly wig as I waited for some hair to grow back on my head..lol  Well finally after a month, I have enough hair on my head to debut my short and natural big chop.  So as usual with me and my hair you’ll see my short and natural one day and my bevy of wigs on other days as I try and continue to grow my own natural hair out.  My husband loves tis length on me and I do too, but I just get bored sometimes and want to try something new every now and then. But I have to admit that having natural hair this length is pretty easy to maintain. I can simply wash, condition, moisturize, add a little part or not and go.  It’s when I get to the TWA (teeny weeny afro) stage that I always seem to give up and reach for the relaxer.  Hoping that when I do get to that stage again I just rock my wigs until I’m past it.  But we shall see. 😉Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and Lifestyle Blog - Showing levels to an effortlessly chic look - Cobalt blue, orange and white

Something New

Today I decided to try something new.  It’s been three months since I shaved my head and I finally have enough hair to  play around with.  I’ve been wanting to color my had so bad but that was what got me into trouble in the first place so I decided to add length via clip in hair extensions that I made.  This was my end result, I was a little iffy about it and then as I wore it around the house I thought it was cute.  When I decided to take outfit pictures I wanted something edgy to match my hair.   I looked in my closet and spotted this tribal print skirt I found at Ross Dress for Less for only $8.99 a few days ago. I thought it would be perfect paired with all black and topped off with my go-to moto jacket from Topshop.  Overall I was pretty pleased with the look.  My husband on the other hand, chose his right to remain silent on the hair…lol  Luckily for me and maybe him, its clip-ins and can be easily removed or changed up. As my hair continues to grow, I look forward to changing it up every now and then with my outfit of the days. Don’t you just love being a girl.dsc05722ppSkirt: Ross Dress for Less | Jacket: Topshop (tall), similar in tall, similar in tall | Top: Old Navy, similar | Shoes: Nine West via Nordstrom, similar up to size 12 | Earrings: Forever 21

One Month Anniversary Natural Hair Journey

First Month Growth Natural Hair Journey

I’ve gotten so used to my new short do’ I almost forgot that today is my one month anniversary since my big chop on August 2, 2014.  I have to say that the first week consisted of me getting used to it.  I was still nervous going out to drop my kids off at school with my shaved head so I was still wearing my wigs.  The second week I was a bit more comfortable and my wigs were just too hot…lol So I went out wearing a baseball cap on my head everyday no matter what I was wearing.  By the third week I was in love with my short hair and ready to take on the world.  I leave the house everyday with confidence and no ball cap unless I’m running late and don’t have time to style my little curls that I now have.  At first I didn’t notice any growth but I realized it had only been two weeks time.  But today I look at these pictures and I can feel the difference.  before my hair was too short to even curl up being only about 3/8″ long.  I’m not sure how long it is today but it is now long enough that it curls up.  My maintenance routine is very simple.  I simply wash or co-wash my hair in the shower with Pantene Co-wash and then I apply conditioner. The one that I use and love is Giovanni Deeper Moisture Conditioner.  It leaves my hair feeling really soft and makes it curl up.  I rinse my hair but I do not rinse the conditioner all of the way out.  I leave some in.  Then I use a moisturizer or leave in conditioner and rub it on my head in a circular motion.  This takes all about 10 minutes which is including my shower time.  I’m loving the simplicity and car freeness of it all.  My husband and mom think that I should leave it short.  Part of me agrees with them and another part of me wants to see how long I can grow it out again.  So for now I’m going to take it day by day and let it grow.

Natural Hair Journey Style

As for my style with my short hair I see it evolving and I like where its heading.  The short hair goes with everything and makes it much easier to get dressed.  Thank you all so much for your kind words and support and helping me to be comfortable with it.  Thank you for following along with me on this natural hair journey.  One month down and a life time to go. 🙂Natural Hair Journey Style

New Do’ and Ruby Woo

DSC03740_pp

Hello lovelies!  Today is another casual and simple jeans and tee look.  I wanted to keep today’s look super simple because I wanted to show how this new do’ and Ruby Woo can make the simplest of outfits pop.  It’s really crazy when my hair was long and relaxed about two years ago, I walked into the MAC store looking for some new lipstick.  My hubby and I were going to be attending the Army ball that upcoming weekend.  I told the associate that I was looking for a red lipstick.  She tried Ruby Woo on me and I hated it, I mean I couldn’t wipe it off fast enough.  I thought it was too bright and the wrong shade of  red for my darker complexion.  Well over these last two years I have seen women of numerous shades swear by Ruby Woo, so with this new do’ I’ve been wanting to step out of my comfort zone more and more,  so last week I went to the MAC store looking for lipsticks that I have seen others wear and loved but was too shy and afraid to wear myself.  They were totally different from what I already owned. Ruby Woo was one of them.

When I got home I tried it on without a lip pencil and fell in love.  On my lips in these pictures is simply Ruby Woo and I love how it looks.  I tell you, I don’t know if its the fact that I don’t have hair getting in the way competing with it, or what but I look and feel totally different wearing it today. It just somehow magically seems to go with me now, does that sound crazy? lol

Currently in my everyday mommy life I am basically a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl.  It works for getting dressed quickly in the mornings and play dates at the park.  But what I’m realizing now in this fashion journey that I’m on is that a basic jeans and tee outfit doesn’t have to be boring. You can add visual interest to your tee by choosing one with graphics or a cute print or a tee in your favorite color.  For jeans you can try a pair with some distressing, if ripped jeans aren’t your cup of tea, you can try rolling up a regular pair without distressing or cuffing them on bottom.  Also colored jeans and printed jeans are other great options. Every once in a while I think it’s good for the soul to step out of our comfort zone.  You never know, you just might find something that you really like and looks good on you and you never would have known it if you didn’t give it a try. 😉

Also out of my comfort zone are these super huge hoop earrings, I mean I know they are humungous and impractical, bigger than my bracelets even.  But I had three family members tell me to get some big hoop earrings when I cut my hair.  So I decided to go and find some.  I bought some in gold and silver and all different circumferences.  These were the biggest available that I found at Forever 21.   When I got home and tried them on, I thought these are kind of fun and cute. I know they’re big, but I think they work, now they are not an everyday type of earring for me, but when I’m feeling sassy I don’t think I’ll have a problem picking these up. I think they look cute with my new bright red lipstick and short do.  Hi my name is Tanasha and I am stepping out of my comfort zone, I now rock really short hair with bright red lipstick, black eyeliner and enormous hoop earrings and I like it. 😉
