Turning 40

On September 25th I turned forty, the big 4-0. It’s so funny to me that when I was in my teens and 20s I used to think that turning 40 was really the end.  I used to think it was so old and as the expression goes, “Over the Hill”. But now that I have turned 40, I definitely don’t feel the same way.  I may be a bit bias now that I am 40, but I honestly don’t feel old at all.  I actually feel a certain type of invigoration and motivation to make this next chapter in my life the absolute best.  I feel as though I can do and accomplish anything. In fact I am motivated to do so much right now. I am truly looking forward to my 40s and all that these years have to offer.  40 and fabulous,  my new motto!  Cheers to turning 40 and loving it!

Height on Fleek

Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and Lifestyle Blog - Height on Fleek

It seems just about daily I get a message, email or comment from tall young girls and women alike who battle with the decision of whether or not they should wear heels.  I am a firm believer that you should rock whatever makes you feel comfortable, confident and your best.  For some women that is a pair of killer pumps, and for others, it is a pair of fierce flats.  For a tall woman I don’t think either choice is wrong or right, because we are blessed with the gift of height, and that makes us stand tall alone, no matter what we are standing in or on.  What I do think is important, is the knowledge that we have the option to wear either, or and look just as good in both.  I truly despise those that make the comments such as,  “you’re already tall, so why do you need heels?”  The fact is I don’t “need” them.  I know I’m tall and I love it.  I “choose” to wear them sometimes, because I like the way they look and the way I look in them, depending on what I am wearing.  But guess what, I also love to wear flats, because they are more conducive to my everyday lifestyle.  Anyway I wrote all of this to say.  Don’t let others dictate what you should or shouldn’t wear as a tall girl. We have the common bond of being tall, but we are all individuals.  Wear the shoe height that YOU like,  that makes YOU feel the most comfortable, and beautiful in.  Just remember as a tall girl, no matter what, your height is always on fleek! Stand tall, stand beautiful, stand proud, but most importantly stand in whatever shoes you want, as long as they fit..(we do not look good with our toes hanging off the edge of our sandals)…hehe

Giveaway : Alice + Olivia for Starbucks Double Wall Ceramic Mug (closed)

mugs

How cute is this mug?  When I first laid eyes on it online, I fell in love.  I mean what’s not to love, black and white stripes, plus a tutu! Are you kidding me.  It’s so freaking pretty! But I was disheartened because when I went to purchase it online from Starbucks I found it to be sold out.  All the professional ebayer’s had swooped in and were of course selling them online for double the price.  So I tried my luck and called a couple of my local Starbucks.  After calling three stores close by with no luck, I decided to drive to a couple of locations just to double check.  First store I went to no luck, they advised me they had sold out the first day it was put on the shelves.  My mom being the smart woman she is advised me to check the Starbucks on post (Army base).  I didn’t even think of going there because I figured they probably hadn’t even received a shipment.  Luckily for me I was completely wrong.  Sitting there right in the front was my mug.  I went to purchase it and the cashier who happened to be a guy said I have to look at this, this is cool I didn’t even know we had these.  That right there tells you how beautiful it is…lol I’m not much of a coffee drinker but I love tea and hot chocolate so that is what mine will be used for once I get over looking at.  It’s so cute I kind of don’t want to take it out of it’s packaging…lol

Okay but now to the good stuff.  As I was sitting at home staring at my mug I thought I should go back and get the other two and give them away on the blog because they are really PRETTY and we are currently in the season of giving and being thankful.  I truly am thankful for all of you who stick by me through my long gaps between posting.  Check in on me via emails and keep my Facebook lively with your ‘likes’ and comments.  So today I am going to give away one of the two extra mugs that I picked up.
