Dress : DIY using NewLook pattern A6119 | Shoes : Payless

I am really excited about my latest finished sewing project.  It is a beautiful maxi dress.  If you’re a beginner sewer such as myself, this is a great pattern to start with.  I found this beautiful blue and purple paisley print fabric, from my local Fabric -Mart.  I used 3 yards of fabric and it was only $5.99 per yard. So this dress cost me less than $20 to make! Below is my pattern review.  I promised those of you who have been emailing me, that I would try and give more information on my DIY’s, so I signed up for pattern review, so you can find me here.  I will use their review template for my completed projects.  So here is my first official pattern review.

Pattern Description:
Maxi dress with keyhole back and front.

Pattern Sizing:
14

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked how easy and fast it was from start to finish.
Fabric Used:
Blue and purple paisley print rayon crepe.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Lengthened the pattern by 6 inches.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would definitely sew this again and would recommend it to others.
Conclusion:
Very easy pattern, perfect for beginners like myself.

Thank you for reading!

  1. Oh my gosh! That looks amazing. I love paisley. You need to open your own Etsy shop and sell some of this stuff. :) Or our husbands need to get stationed at the same Army post at some point so I can pay you to make clothes for me (assuming you’d want to). ;)
