Hello everyone I wanted to share with you the easy diy knit scarf I made using this cool kit I found at Wal-Mart. I was just perusing the aisles in the sewing and craft section and I came across a Martha Stewart Crafts Knit & Weave Loom Kit. I’ve always wanted to learn how to knit and crochet but just never got around to doing it. Looking at the box of the kit it just seemed like it would be easy to do, so I figured I would give it a try.
I decided to make an infinity scarf in my favorite color, cobalt blue. I’ve learned that scarves are a great way to bring color to your face and they can give an other wise dull or simple outfit some life. I like the way the cobalt blue “pops” in between my black leather jacket and jet black hair.
To make this diy cobalt blue knit scarf I used the long loom, but only used about 12 pegs going across and I used one skein of yarn. I wanted it to be thin and long. I was happy with how it turned out, with one exception. I wish I would have made it fuller, by either making it longer or wider. I have another skein of yarn in the same color, so I think I may eventually add to it or just make another one and double them up when we are actually in a place that it gets cold enough to wear a knit scarf and not look crazy…lol
I’m curious, do any of you know how to knit or crochet, with just the hooks and needles? If so, I envy you. I really want to learn how to myself but until then I’m so happy I came across this kit. I’ve already started working on one in a pretty burgundy color.
If you’re interested it appears to be sold out online at Walmart.com, but you can try your local store or I see it is available here also.
Thank you for reading!
Hugs,

Beautiful infinity scarf and love the color. I crochet and knit, but crocheting is my first love. I have a loom, but managed to make a scarf once. Using my crochet hook or knitting needles moved the process along faster.. call me impatient…lol. You did a great job using the loom.
Thank you Sheila! Crocheting and knitting are definitely two skills I want to learn especially if it makes the process faster..lol
My mom wasn’t a knitter, but she managed to teach me a simple knit stitch that was all I used for 20 years. Then, last year, I decided to take on the challenge of teaching myself more. There are so many awesome and easy tutorials on pinterest. Now I have the confidence to tackle a pattern and use more complicated stitches. I’ll never make myself a sweater, likely, but I love that I can make any scarf I want or whip up a new beach bag if the inspiration strikes. It’s a great skill to learn and pretty easy if you take it on in little chunks
My next challenge is to learn how to knit in the round…as soon as the holidays are over – I have a project to throw myself into
I’m a Pinterest junkie and surprisingly I haven’t paid much attention to knitting tutorials on there but I will definitely start a board for them now.
(and I LOVE the scarf you made. It is GORGEOUS! nice work for a first attempt!)
Thank you so much Cori!
Love it! I started with a loom and then took a knitting class. The rest I picked up from knittinghelp.com EXCELLENT site. I used to crochet but for some reason I can’t re-teach myself lol.
Thanks Adrienne! I will have to check Out knitting help. Thanks for the info!
