It has been ages since I’ve made anything and needed an easy and fast project to complete to hopefully help me to get my sewing mojo back. This DIY chambray tie sleeve off the shoulder midi dress was just what the doctor ordered. I am obsessed with off-the-shoulder tops and dresses and want them in every single color. But I saw a chambray midi length dress by Tibi and instantly fell in love with the look of the dress, but definitely not the $495 price tag. You can take a look at the $495 Tibi version here. Totally out of my budget. So I looked through my fabric stash and found that I had some chambray fabric in the same color and McCall’s 7543 was a great pattern to use to create something similar. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. You can read my pattern review below.
:: Pattern Review – McCall’s 7543 ::
Pattern Description: Misses Off-the-Shoulder Tops, Tunic, Dress
Pattern Sizing: L-XL-XXL, I cut the large.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes with the extended dress length.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were very easy to read and follow along
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like how simple and straight forward it was.
Fabric Used: Chambray purchased from my local Yardage Town store.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I omitted the pockets because I didn’t have enough fabric and also I extended the length of the dress to midi length.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I will definitely be sewing this dress again. I would love to make a couple more with pockets and varying lengths. I would definitely recommend for others to try.
Conclusion: Love this pattern! A very quick and easy project.

Thank you for stopping by!

Thank you so much!!
Loving your take on this dress – exactly how I want to do mine – dress has to be BELOW my knees. Glad you posted the designer dress to – why pay $400+ when you can make it for far less. Thank you!
