Simple, cute and comfortable, these three words are right up my alley when it comes to getting dressed in the summertime. When the temps start heating up and the bus have been driving me crazy from being out of school I need outfits that can be quickly thrown together but still have me looking put together and a maxi dress and denim jacket is the answer most of the time for me. Especially since I’ve gotten my sewing mojo back and have been making these in various colors…lol They are so easy to just throw on and go, love a look that doesn’t take much effort. This one was super easy. I’ve linked some grey maxi dresses above and I hope you all already have a denim jacket in your closet because it is a wardrobe staple, but just in case you don’t I’ve got you covered there as well. Keep in mind this works with any color maxi dress as my accessories are all neutrals. My maxi dress is straight down and as I’ve picked up some weight I prefer them to be fitted on my frame but not tight, so I throw on a wide belt to accentuate my waist and give me some shape. The denim jacket it the perfect layering piece, I decided to top it all off with my olive green statement earrings and pretty “P” initial necklace from Ainkas Jewels. You know I love me some personalization and the P can represent pretty or my last name, depending on my mood..lol I switch intermittently between this letter P and the T, love these dainty initial necklaces.

Thank you for stopping by!
Hugs,

McCalls 6559 is a great pattern isn’t it? I made 10 of these in long and short lengths because it really is the perfect summer dress. Love this combination and can’t wait to see your next versions.

Thank you so much Carolyn and yes I love this pattern. I love maxi dresses and this is the perfect easy pattern. I’ve made this grey and a black one I will be showing soon and definitely plan on making quite it bit more. I love when you can just through on a dress add a couple of accessories and go..lol
