Review : The Body Shop Coconut Body Scrub and Cocoa Butter Beautifying Oil

Earlier in the week I received two products compliments of The Body Shop to try and review, Coconut Body Scrub and Cocoa Butter Beautifying Oil.

The first product is The Body Shop Coconut Body Scrub. It smells amazingly sweet, just like fresh coconut. The aroma is so yummy , my hubby was like this smells good enough to eat, and started reading the ingredients to see if he could..lol I kid you not, though it really smells good. When you’re in the shower it’s like you’ve escaped to a tropical island. Yes I know I am on a tropical island, but you get what I’m saying, it’s a truly tropical scent. It’s rich and creamy with shavings or granules of coconut shells and they worked great for exfoliating my skin without any irritation. I normally use a sugar scrub and in comparison this scrub gets the job done just as well. My skin felt moisturized and smooth. I also loved that it didn’t leave a residue behind. The only thing lingering was the fresh coconut scent. Overall I would rate The Body Shop Coconut Body Scrub a 5/5. I had no con’s for this product. I’m truly hooked on the smell.

The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Beautifying Oil according to the bottle can be used for the body, face and hair, but I only used it on my body. It has a very warm and light cocoa butter scent. Again this aroma was not overpowering or overbearing at all. Its very pleasant. It absorbs and rubs in very quickly and does not leave a greasy feeling at all. It left my skin feeling soft and it shined with a healthy glow. Overall I would rate The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Beautifying Oil a 4.5/5. The only con I had with this product, is that the bottle isn’t big enough. I’m 6’4″, so you know there is a lot of skin that needs to be covered, and I can see myself running out of this bottle very quickly, as I would want to use it every single day.

DIY Mani : Essie Turquoise & Caicos and Meet Me at Sunset

I love nail polish and trying different colors. While at Walgreens a little over a week ago I picked up two new nail polishes. I was specifically looking for two bold colors that went well together. I use all different brands of nail polish but decided to look in the Essie section for these choices. Turquoise & Caicos caught my eye first. I picked it up because the turquoise color caught my eye and just seemed perfect for summer and when I read the name of the color ‘turquoise & caicos’ I just had to have it because Turks and Caicos has always been on my dream travel wish list. While scanning for a secondary color it seemed like a no brainer for a bold and bright orange to compliment and my eyes stopped at ‘meet me at sunset’. It’s a pretty, bright and fiery orange, red, coral combination.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that I have been without a relaxer for over six months. I decided to transition instead of doing the big chop. In the past six months I have cut off a total of six inches of my relaxed hair. Averaging about an inch a month. As the months have gone by it has been a bit difficult for me to manage the two textures, so I have been keeping my hair under wraps in a braided protective style underneath wigs. The wigs have made it easier because I haven’t had to “deal” with my current seemingly unmanageable hair. I had been trying different products some better than others and some just complete disasters leaving my hair feeling dry and brittle.

Big Hair, Don’t Care!

So if you’ve been following my blog for a little while you all know that my hair is a pretty decent length and a few months ago I decided to stop relaxing my hair and to minimize if not completely eliminate heat styling. It has been six months now since I’ve been transitioning and I have been able to manage the two different textures up until now. It would probably be much easier for me now if I did the big chop, but I’m not quite ready and my husband would prefer that I didn’t do it right now either. He remembers five years ago when I did the big chop and I was so miserable, so I don’t blame him. My sister texted me a picture a few weeks ago about a new wig she had just purchased. So I decided to try a wig myself. I went to a a local beauty supply store here on post and spent about an hour looking at the different options. I wanted something different, natural and realistic looking but also a bit bold and versatile. I texted my sister a picture of this tightly curled wig that I liked.

She said it looked like Michael Jackson…lol So I took that as a big heck no, do not buy this wig. I then texted her a picture of a wig with a looser curl pattern.

This one she said was really cute, and liked it a lot. So I decided to go with the second option and I am really happy with my choice.

I have received a ton of compliments.

This hairstyle (wig) is helping me as I transition away from relaxers and allow my hair to grow healthy and strong without the use of chemicals or heat. I just use flexi-rods in the front section of my hair to get the same curl pattern as the wig and blend help it blend in better.

I have to admit it is a lot of hair, but I think with me being tall, I am able to pull it off, without it seeming so overwhelming. I am loving big and curly hair right now, it just seems perfect for spring and summer.
