DIY Fuchsia Sequin Midi Pencil Skirt

Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion, Lifestyle and DIY Blog - DIY Fuchsia Sequin Midi Pencil Skirt

Hello Lovelies!  Well I kind of lost my motivation to sew for the last few months. Just not in the mood or feeling it, but I knew I had to break out of the rut.  So I started with some simple pieces in gorgeous fabric and it snapped me right out of my lull. Today I am featuring this diy fuchsia pink sequin midi skirt I made using this gorgeous fabric I found at my local Fabric-Mart and created using McCall’s 9003.

This is such a great pattern! You can create different skirts of varying length and they are all super easy.  I actually made three skirts in one day using this pattern.  Which you will see later on the blog.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion, Lifestyle and DIY Blog - DIY Fuchsia Sequin Midi Pencil Skirt

I followed the instructions which were simple and easy to under and I cut view D for my skirt and added a couple of inches for the length on my 6’4″ frame.  This sequin fabric is stretchy and I love for the most part how the sequins on my fabric lay flat, so there was no snagging.  Feels smooth when I run my hands over it. When I first started sewing my sequin fabric got caught in my machine, I think it was because I started sewing to close to the edge.  So once I got it out and my machine back in order I Move the fabric back a bit and then then just backstitched to the edge and then kept going forward and it was smooth sailing from there.  Well kind of smooth until I had to clean up the mess afterwards, once I was done cutting and sewing, my room was a mess with sequins everywhere, but definitely well worth it with these finished results.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion, Lifestyle and DIY Blog - DIY Fuchsia Sequin Midi Pencil Skirt

Last thought was thinking about what I wanted to wear with this gorgeous skirt.  I decided to keep it in the same color family and was happy to see that I had a top and blazer that went perfectly. Really trying to shop my closet more and now that my sewing mojo is back hoping to be able to create and wear things I’ve made.  All in all I am really happy with the way my skirt turned out and this look as a whole.  I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Have a marvelous Monday!
