Pretty Tall Style

Bottom : Gap (tall) | Blazer : Banana Republic (tall) | Top : Bershka | Shoes : Gabriella Rocha (Zappos) | Bag : Kate Spade | Necklace : Target

I have had a pair of neon yellow pumps on my wish list since last spring and had been unsuccessful in finding an affordable pair in my size 12.  While browsing on Zappo.com for nothing in particular, just seeing what was out there, I came across these patent leather pretties.  I read the reviews, which there were only 2 and not very favorable.  One stated they rubbed, while the other stated they were too big for her.  I thought about it and decided to go ahead with my purchase.  I quickly clicked, checked out and paid without hesitation.  When I received them in the mail within two days (Zappos is awesome like that!) I was so happy.  They fit perfectly and looked better on and in person then they did online.  They are neon patent leather and definitely a wow look at me now kind of shoe.  I was scared that they would make my feet look even bigger than they already are because of the bold color, looking at the pics I don’t think they do.  I’m glad I decided to go ahead with the purchase because I love how this shoe ups the wow factor of an outfit.

So tell me would you rock a neon shoe?

Pretty Tall Style - J. Crew Blazer TallWater Kimora Jeans

Bottom : TallWater ( c/o)| Top : Forever 21 | Blazer : J.Crew | Shoes : Payless | Necklace : Charlotte Russe

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of being introduced to the TallWater Jeans brand.  It is a company founded by two gorgeously tall, and wonderfully nice twin sisters, Kate and Lynn, who stand 6’3″ and 6’2″ in their bare feet.  The bio states that for the last two years these two sisters have been on a mission to design the perfect pair of tall jeans and by golly I think they have done just that!  I was given the opportunity to try and review the Kimora Slim Boot jean and honestly, I am in love.  As you can see by the pictures these jeans fit like a glove and are super duper long.  A 38″ inseam to be exact. In my opinion they are a  premium denim with just the right amount of stretch to hug your curves and not suffocate you while doing so.  There is no droopy butt or sagging and ill fitting crotch.  These jeans are wonderfully made, from the buttons to the cute plaid pockets on the inside.  They come in size 4 – 16, for reference I’m wearing a size 14.  Also check out the rise of these jeans, simply perfect.  They are not too high or too low.  The top I am wearing is not tall sized, its a medium junior sized top from Forever 21, so you know it isn’t long in the torso and the top of my jeans hit it perfectly and most importantly they stayed in place without a belt. I didn’t have to fuss with them and pull them up all the time like I some times do with other brand jeans.  These TallWater Kimora Slim Boot jeans get a Pretty Tall Style Stamp of Approval.

 emerald green diy maxi dress

Dress : DIY  (using Vogue Pattern V8915 and my  modifications)| Sandals : Payless (size 12) | Bracelets : Forever 21 | Bag : Coach

When I was making this emerald green maxi dress I had no idea how it was going to turn out.  I knew in my head how I envisioned it looking, but let’s just say sometimes my visions don’t always come to life as planned.  But this time around it worked out.  I wanted a maxi dress that dropped off the shoulder and draped the body after seeing a similar one on Pinterest. After I finished sewing this dress and tried it on I immediately thought ‘green goddess’ and knew I would finally be able to wear my matching gold cuff bracelets I had purchased from Forever 21 months ago.  Throw in a pair of gold sandals and my new Coach tote  (that my hubby and 2 year old son picked out for me for Mother’s Day) and my look was complete. What I love about this dress is that it is casual and comfortable, because it is made out of a cotton knit t-shirt material, but with my gold bracelets and sandals it kicks it up a notch  to casual chic, which I love especially being a stay at home mom.

I used Vogue pattern V8915 as the base for this dress.  I only needed to make a couple of minor modifications for the look I wanted.  I widened the neckline for the off the shoulder look.  I lengthened the dress to a maxi length for my frame.  I eliminated the pockets because I didn’t want them to show through the material and mess with the way it draped on me.  I used scraps for my belt (not on purpose…) I ran out of material..lol…rookie mistake.  I need to stop only buying two yards of fabric unless I know specifically what I’m going to make.  This was a very easy dress to make and I will definitely be making more in different variations and colors.

Dress : Suzy Chin (Nordstrom Rack) | Shoes : Nine West (Amazon.com) | Clutch : DIY

I purchased this dress last year during one of Nordstrom Rack’s Clear the Rack Sales Event. I was drawn to this python print shirt dress first by the wonderful  print, secondly by the soft gray hues.  Throw in the fact that it was on clearance for under $30, a shirt dress and a fabulous rayon and silk blend and I was sold.  It came with a belt, but I decided to leave it loose because I like the casual and natural drape.  Okay and the fact you can eat all you want and not have to worry about it showing, without the belt tied at the waist…lol I love the cut of this shirt dress, because even without the belt, it isn’t too boxy.  Although it isn’t “tall” sized, the length was perfect for me.  Hitting at just above the knee,  it didn’t come up too short and look like it was meant to be a shirt.  Which, I normally have a problem with, when I wear shorter dresses.  But as you can see, this dress certainly hits the mark.

Nothing makes you feel more like a rock star than leather and leopard.  And nothing makes this tall girl happier than a pair of faux leather pants, that are actually long enough for her stems. I have worn these pants once before here when I first received them and I have to tell you I am loving them even more now as I find more ways to wear them.  I’m not a young spring chicken anymore, so I want to make sure that I continue to give them a grown up vibe.
