In previous posts I’ve been eluding to how my shopping habits are changing. I now try to buy pieces that I not only love, but also pieces that can go with many other items that I already have in my closet. While perusing the tall section of Loft.com a couple of weeks ago, I came across this mustard yellow pencil skirt. It was regularly priced at $64.99 and I bought it on sale for $26.00. I wasn’t particularly looking for a mustard pencil skirt, but you know (if you’ve been following the blog for a while, that yellow is my happy color). My reasons for purchasing this skirt were: I loved this color, I know that a pencil skirt is a classic piece that can be dressed up or down, plus the medium weight fabric of this skirt is perfect for any season. I knew my options would be truly limitless. So today is my first ever installment of a re-mix post. I decided to wear the same black classic pumps to show that you can get four totally different looks just by switching out accessories and your tops. But imagine when I change out my shoes, it creates four more entirely different outfits.
This first look could also be paired with black knee high boots or black ankle booties.
What I’m Wearing – Look #1:
Skirt: Loft (sold out online), similar and here | Jacket: Topshop, similar | Tee: Alloy, similar | Bag: Kate Spade (old) | Shoes: Ivanka Trump (size 12) via Nordstrom Rack, similar up to a size 13 | Scarf: Target, similar here and here
For look #2 I will be wearing my camel leather round toe pumps as another option.
What I’m Wearing – Look #2:
Skirt: Loft, similar and here| Blouse: T.J. Maxx, similar and on sale | Belt: Banana Republic Factory Store | Shoes: Ivanka Trump via Nordstrom Rack, similar up to a size 13 | Bag: Louis Vuitton
Look #3 could also be jazzed up with my red suede pumps.
What I’m Wearing – Look #3:
Skirt: Loft, similar and here | Shirt: Forever21, similar here in tall | Bag: L.A.M.B via Nordstrom Rack, similar for less than $15 | Shoes: Ivanka Trump via Nordstrom Rack, similar up to a size 13 | Watch: Michael Kors | Necklace: Ebay | Bracelet: Forever 21
Look # 4 I could add a brown belt and bag and wear my navy flats or tan heeled penny loafers.
What I’m Wearing – Look #4:
Skirt: Loft, similar and here | Sweater: Gap, similar available in regular, tall and petite | Shoes: Ivanka Trump via Nordstrom Rack, similar up to a size 13 | Necklace: Thrifted | Bag: 31. Philip Lim for Target | Bracelets: T.J. Maxx and Ebay | Watch: Michael Kors
Sidenote: My sweater is too big in the body, I will be slimming it before I wear it again.
I really could have posted at least 25r different looks with this mustard yellow pencil skirt today, but I figured four was a good starting point. I will show more looks with this pencil skirt in future posts as I wear them. Especially this spring and summer, I already have outfit ideas in mind for it. Floral print blazer, printed blouse, sleeveless blouse, cardigans, tank top and denim jacket all paired with various sandals. As you can see a mustard yellow pencil skirt is a vary versatile piece.
