I decided to go all out in monochromatic red today as I spotlight my diy red shift dress I made using Butterick 5211 view B, minus the belt. Let me just say I love this dress pattern, it states fast and easy 1 hour pattern and it truly is very quick to sew. I definitely plan on making a few more versions in various colors, fabrics and prints, today I used a vibrant solid red woven fabric with a touch of lycra that I found at my local Fabric Mart. It is a mid weight and structured fabric, but definitely not stiff and super easy to cut and sew. I just love how it turned out, it’s loose but not boxy, simple, yet chic and modern and classic at the same time. The pattern was very easy to use and the only modifications I made were adding extra inches for length to accommodate my height and lowering the pockets a bit, which I’m so happy I did, because my long arms hang down comfortably when my hands are in them. I love dresses with pockets and I am not sure why I haven’t made more with them, but I certainly will be. I decided to pair my diy red shift dress with my laser cut open toe ankle booties by Christian Siriano for Payless, to add a bit of edge, making it date night appropriate. I can also see it paired with some pumps and a blazer for a professional work or business meeting look. I also want to try dressing it down with sandals or maybe even a cardigan and a pair of chucks. I will definitely be sewing this dress again in another vibrant color.
Thank you for stopping by!
Hugs,

Love it!
There aren’t many of us who can look that great in a shift dress…but you look fantastic. At 6’1, I usually look like I’m wearing one of my husband’s XXL t-shirts when I wear one. And you made it yourself? Love it!
