Hello lovelies! Today I’m wearing a diy paper bag waist skirt I made with a matching sash. I had this leftover fabric from a previous project that I attempted to make, but didn’t turn out quite so well.  I didn’t want to scrap this fabric so I tried to think of what I could make with what was left of a little over a yard worth of fabric plus a long strip.  I figured I had enough for a skirt and sash, and decided to try my hand at a paper bag waist skirt.  I didn’t use a pattern for this skirt.  I simply took my fabric I had left and folded it in half.  Then I cut it into two equal pieces. I sewed the two pieces together at the sides and then hemmed up the bottom. Next I folded the top of my skirt over about three inches.  I then made a 1 inch casing for my 1 inch elastic, towards the bottom of the waist part that I folded over, leaving out about 1/2″ from the bottom.  I inserted my elastic and closed the hole I left at the insertion point and my paper bag waist skirt was done.  Then I tried it on and realized that paper bag waist skirts are not the most flattering if your tummy is your problem area…lol  So I took my sash I made and tied it over the waistband and everything was instantly better.  I was ready for date night.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion and DIY Blog - DIY Paper Bag Waist SkirtWhat I’m Wearing:

Today I am dressing up my black and white gingham shirt, by pairing it with my DIY (faux) leather skirt, bow pumps and pearls.  Last week I used it as a layering piece under a sweater as seen here.Pretty Tall Style - Tall Women's Fashion Blog - How to Dress up a Gingham ShirtWhat I’m Wearing:

DIY Camouflage Print Skirt

diy camouflage print skirt

Hello lovelies! I love coma print and was excited to see that it would be big again this fall.  So while perusing my local fabric store I came across this woven cotton fabric and thought it would be perfect for a diy camouflage print skirt.diy camouflage print skirt

For these last days of summer I decided to pair it with neon yellow.  There is just something about the combo that I really love.  I think its a perfect marriage of summer and fall as we start the transition.  This neon yellow tee was a J. Crew sale find from a couple of months ago.  It is tissue soft and I love the way it feels against my skin.  My neon yellow Kate Spade bag was a sale find from katespade.com and I love it.  Its s bright and I’ not ashamed…lol  This is not your conventional look and I’m okay with that.  I’ve been stepping more and more out of my comfort zone and trying new things and I like this fashion journey that I’m on.  Normally I like to match, but I’m realizing that you don’t always have to do so. Sometimes colors just compliment each other and make it click.diy camouflage print skirt
