What I’m Wearing:

Bottoms: Banana Republic Factory Store (Tall size and DIY alteration) | Top: Old Navy | Shoes: Barefoot Tess

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I’ve had this neon yellow shirt for months and have never worn it because I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to wear it with besides jeans.  Then I remembered I had a pair of gray pants that would go well.  When I pulled out my pants they seemed a bit dated with the bootcut.  So I went over  to my sewing machine and turned them into skinnies.  It was pretty easy.  First I turned these gray pants inside out. Then  I took a pair of skinny pants I already owned and laid them on top.  I then took my tailors chalk and traced up until slightly above the knee where the outer and inner seams met on both pair.  I then pinned where my outline was and tried the pants on.  I liked the fit and didn’t need to make any adjustments.  I stitched them up with me machine and then trimmed off the excess.  Lo and behold I had a pair of brand new pair of gray skinny pants.

Pretty Tall Style

Bottom : Gap (tall) | Blazer : Banana Republic (tall) | Top : Bershka | Shoes : Gabriella Rocha (Zappos) | Bag : Kate Spade | Necklace : Target

I have had a pair of neon yellow pumps on my wish list since last spring and had been unsuccessful in finding an affordable pair in my size 12.  While browsing on Zappo.com for nothing in particular, just seeing what was out there, I came across these patent leather pretties.  I read the reviews, which there were only 2 and not very favorable.  One stated they rubbed, while the other stated they were too big for her.  I thought about it and decided to go ahead with my purchase.  I quickly clicked, checked out and paid without hesitation.  When I received them in the mail within two days (Zappos is awesome like that!) I was so happy.  They fit perfectly and looked better on and in person then they did online.  They are neon patent leather and definitely a wow look at me now kind of shoe.  I was scared that they would make my feet look even bigger than they already are because of the bold color, looking at the pics I don’t think they do.  I’m glad I decided to go ahead with the purchase because I love how this shoe ups the wow factor of an outfit.

So tell me would you rock a neon shoe?

Another item that has been on my wish list for quite some time is a ‘skater skirt‘.  Now for the longest time I didn’t realize they were called skater skirts, and then I had no clue as to why they were called skater skirts.  But I’m a ‘googler’ so of course I had to google it.  I found that a skating or skater skirt is high waisted, short and flowy, with a hemline that hits above the knee. Check, check, check and check. I think I passed the test and even get extra credit points because mine has pockets. I’ve always thought they were cute when I’ve seen them on other people but didn’t really think that I could get away with wearing one because they would be too short on me and not appropriate for my “old” age.  But I figured if I made one I could make sure it was a good length for me, short but not too mini-skirtish. I chose a cotton navy and white stripe print fabric. This skirt will pair well with many different colors and options in my closet this spring and summer. I love the freshness the neon blazer gives it.

Thank you so much for reading.

Bottom: Alloy | Blazer : Charlotte Russe | Top: Nordstrom Rack | Bag : Greece | Shoes : Avenue | Bracelet : TJ Maxx | Necklace : Forever 21

I purchased this blazer a few weeks ago, I had been looking for a neon yellow blazer for quite some time and happened across it in Charlotte Russe while I was looking for some accessories.  It was the last one shoved in with some other miscellaneous pieces.  When I tried it on, it fit well and the sleeves were short, but I knew I could let them down a bit.  I was able to  get an extra inch in length. These trouser jeans from Alloy are a personal favorite of mine.  The fit and length are amazing, I have on 3″ heels and they still graze the floor.
